Pros

The hours are flexible and the people are great to work with. The job isn't too demanding and you get to help a lot of great kids.

Cons

The hours are only in the evening and that can be a bit difficult to work around when trying to find other jobs.

Thank you for review. We are pleased to hear that you enjoy working with your co-workers at C2 and having flexible hours. We definitely share your passion for working with great kids, too! We aim to schedule student sessions based on the availability of each teacher as much as possible. Ultimately, we depend on the schedules of our students who are usually available in the afternoons, evenings and Saturdays. We invite you to attend the quarterly Teacher Town Halls where you will have the opportunity to hear about company-wide initiatives, academic topics of importance, and a place to voice your suggestions and opinions. In addition to providing ways for management to better communicate with our teachers, we’re also providing more ways for our teachers to communicate to management via myc2ideas@c2ducate.com. We value your voice and appreciate all that you do for our students.

Pros

If you're a grad student in need of some cash, this might be a good job for you. But don't rely on this job only.

Cons

Your shift can be cancelled or cut in half at any moment, without notice. If you are planning on working here to pay bills--don't. There's no guarantee on how big or small your paycheck will be, so you can never be sure if you'll have enough for bills at the end of the month. You can be assigned 16 hours one week and 4 the next. Random scheduling makes it hard to take on a second part time job anywhere else. Center quality varies. Some are nicer, others are a bunch of cubicles in a dimly lit room. Course materials are poorly written and don't do a good job of explaining concepts to the students. Organization is lacking and course materials often go missing. The 3 to 1 student ration is terrible. Students are often working at different grade levels making the whole process a juggling act for the teacher.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We agree that teaching is a great option for graduate students who are in need of a flexible schedule and extra income! We are sorry to hear your needs were not met before leaving the company. You will be pleased to know that we held our first Teacher Town Hall in December 2015. These town halls provide teachers opportunities to hear about company-wide initiatives, academic news, and a place to voice their suggestions and opinions. We also have a new development program where teachers can gain additional skills to teach more subjects, which in turn increases their ability to teach additional sessions. C2's philosophy is to work to the individual needs of each student and 3:1 allows for students to receive one-on-one attention. This ensures that the teacher provides tailored and interactive instruction while providing an environment in which no student is ever being given a cookie-cutter lecture. We aim to schedule student sessions based on the availability of each teacher along with the subjects they teach as best as possible. Ultimately, we depend on the schedules of our students and while we work to be as consistent as possible, our students’ needs come first.

Inhibited communication between tutors and center directors. Some do not seem to care about the student's education that much.

If you haven't already, we encourage you to share your concerns regarding communication with your Center director. They are the representatives of C2's educational philosophy and the keys to our success so it is important to work together as a team.
