Pros

I learned a lot about camera settings and how to use equipment I had never had the chance to use.

Cons

12+ Hour shifts with no breaks. I almost passed out on a shoot one time because we were out in the heat all day in all black, had no breaks, and of course had to keep the energy high for whomever we were photographing. Management is terrible. Empty promises. I have a degree and was promised a raise after a few months of working there. After 90 days I talked to the manager and he said "you have been doing great so yes you can have a raise just email me about this conversation." I do so. Nothing happened. Never got a raise. I loved working there at first until I realized they cared very little about their employers. It was also a downer when you realize that the "Lead Photographers" are incredibly immature and unqualified. I was invited to go to some park with them while they smoke hookah (not my thing). I passed while this newer girl decided she would go. The next week she's sucked into their clique and all of a sudden becomes a lead photographer. I actually trained her when she first started. Basically, don't expect a "promotion" if you aren't into the same things as the others.

Pros

Traveling to schools and taking pictures is fun.

Cons

Management is absolutely terrible. Pay is atrocious. 16 hours days with no break almost every day. Hours are only given to friends of the manager. Managers have no experience managing people and act like children. I've never seen a company so horrible, unprofessional, and disorganized. They lose accounts left and right because they just can not get it together. I'm surprised the company is still keeping it's head above water. It will surely tank soon.

Pros

Cady Studios is a great place to work if you are in college. They truly train you on how to become a real photographer. You learn customer service skills, you build up your portfolio, and you take professional photos every day at work.

Cons

If you are not in college and you don't have another source of income, Cady is a challenging place to work. The PAY is VERY LOW. It is difficult to survive off the money you make there. Furthermore, during the busy season you are overworked. That means working minimum to 40,50,60 hour weeks with NO HEALTH INSURANCE. The management is young and inexperienced, and often have inappropriate relationships and friendships with the photographers. Employees are often treated rudely. Strangely on the flipped there is a very little consequences to when employees do act badly. There are lot of threats, but I have seen employees leave the studio floor to "hang out" and nothing happened. Though one might consider that a pro, when you are working extra hours all the time with NO RAISES or rewards it can be a bit draining. Overall, if you are working professional, try to only stay for Cady for as limited time as possible. Build you skills, but KEEP APPLYING for jobs. There is a reason why professional photographers make hundreds of dollars a day. Be also award of this while YOU make $9.25 per hour, CADY is making THOUSANDS of your intellectual property.
