Pros

Nice and friendly people who would help you when you need support.

Cons

The working hours here is confusing. They assign you to a confusing schedule that keeps on changing day by day. You don't get to be paid on time because of overly complicated salary contributions. I think this is their strategy to limit paying employees who were supposed to be paid full time. They are unfair and unjust to their employees considering that they are constantly overworked.

Thank you for sharing your experience as a Vehicle Protection Plan Specialist at CARCHEX. Feedback from current and former employees is always appreciated and helps us get even better. We agree that both Vehicle Protection Specialists and Management do provide a support system that will help the CARCHEX team members not only professionally, but personally as well. We work hard to accomplish that so thank you for acknowledging! However, we are confused by some of your other statements. You stated that the schedule is confusing and constantly changing day-to-day. As you are aware, our business model is such that we provide all Vehicle Protection Plan Specialists with warm incoming leads only. As a result, it is important that there is an appropriate number of Specialists to service those incoming leads. The only way to ensure the appropriate number of Specialists are available to serve those customers is to have a well-planned schedule. To that end, we use state of the art scheduling software linked to our timekeeping and payroll system. We create a monthly schedule and distribute to all Specialists in advance of the start of each month (as well as being available to all Specialists in real-time through the payroll and timekeeping portal). In addition, a weekly schedule is posted on a monitor at the front of the office at all times. While we agree that our commission policies are detailed and therefore may be complicated, we spend a considerable amount of time during training walking new Specialists through the commission policy. However, based on your feedback, it appears we can do a better job. We will immediately add more information about our commission policy into our training class so all Vehicle Protection Specialists have a clear understanding of how commissions are calculated and paid. We are also confused by your statement that Specialists do not get paid on time. We have a fixed payroll schedule that does not vary at all. Specialists are paid on the 15th and last day of the month. The paycheck on the last day of the month pays commission on sales from the 1st through the 15th of the current month. The paycheck on the 15th of the month pays commission on sales from the 16th – last day of the prior month PLUS all bonuses and overtime earned for the prior month. Further, ALL Specialists are full-time, non-exempt employees who are paid overtime when earned, so accordingly, there is no “strategy” to try to limit paying Specialists. We absolutely appreciate the hard work and efforts of the entire CARCHEX team and as a seven-time winner of the Baltimore Sun Best Workplaces award, it appears our team does feel appreciated. However, we are always striving to do better. If you would like to help us understand why you felt unappreciated, we would love to hear about it so we can make sure no one else ever feels that way again. Please feel free to reach out directly to Kevin Kiddy (KKiddy@carchex.com ) or by phone at 410-527-9280 extension 1490 if there is any more information you could give to help make CARCHEX a better place to work. Thank you for taking the time to write a review!

Pros

There are a couple people who has the talent that needs a little direction and training.

Cons

Like any other sales job, you have to hustle hard to earn then money. It would be nice though, if the company would at least care for the people they employ as much as they care for the sales they will be putting in. There are no development programs for the employees, lack benefits, and open communication from the management. They just keep on pushing you to do your best, even the impossible.

Thank you for sharing your experience as a Vehicle Protection Plan Specialist at CARCHEX. Feedback from current and former employees help us get even better. We are confused about your comments because as a frequent winner of the Baltimore Sun Best Workplaces Award and Selling Power’s 50 Best Companies to Sell for Award, our employees have communicated quite the opposite to these independent agencies. We have a carefully developed sales training curriculum that is designed to arm new Vehicle Protection Specialists with the skills they need to become top performers within 2 months of their first day of employment. That training includes 1 ½ week formal training class in our state-of-the-art training facility plus a 2 week “on the sales floor” ramp up designed to give new specialists the hands-on, live call support they need in the early days of their sales career at CARCHEX. We foster growth at all levels and in all departments by allowing CARCHEX team members to move to different departments to try to apply their skill set to new tasks. For example, many successful Vehicle Protection Specialists have transferred from our Call Screening and Customer Service departments, increasing their earnings by as much as 4 times. In addition, all of our sales management positions are held by former Vehicle Protection Specialists who have not only demonstrated their ability to sell but also their ability to lead. While we are never happy to see a team member leave CARCHEX, we all know it is inevitable. However, we pride ourselves knowing that countless former employees have credited their success at other companies/careers to their experience at CARCHEX. As for benefits, CARCHEX prides itself on the perks available to all CARCHEX team members: Generous 401(K) plan with a 4% match Benefit rich, subsidized CareFirst health (POS, HMO or HSA) dental and vision plan Paid time off Paid lunches Weekly cash contests Tickets to sporting events Fitness center with a certified trainer on staff Negotiated discounts with several essential vendors (auto, auto repair, apparel, food etc.) You commented that there is no open communication from management. If you are referring to the fact that we don’t like to tie up our team member’s time in weekly meetings, we agree. Our approach to communication is much different. We try to utilize brief team meetings, email, our HR portal, texting and informal manager interactions to keep our CARCHEX team well informed without interfering with their ability to maximize their earnings. While most companies loosely throw around the term “open door policy,” when it comes to describing their communication policies, CARCHEX embraces it. Our management team offices/workstations are located amidst the operating departments and their doors are literally open welcoming feedback from CARCHEX team members. As a result of our management team being hands on, all levels of CARCHEX team members interact with our management team every day. In fact, many of the improvements we have made over the years have been initiated by a CARCHEX Team member talking with a member of our management team. Apparently, you didn’t feel like you had an avenue to address your concerns and that is something we will be sure to reinforce with our Team. Had you reached out while you were employed, we would have helped you to understand what we truly offer and address any concerns you had about being properly trained and developed.

Pros

This company is very motivating and always encourages us to bring out the best characteristics that make us great individuals. I have never worked with a company that cares just as much about their goals, as their employees. They look to develop any who walk through their doors to being the best salesperson, focusing on your strong points and helping shape the weak points. This is gauranteed boot camp to make you successful, no matter whether you stay with this company or take your career elsewhere.

Cons

Its a grind, if you dont work you dont eat (hypothetical) the sky is the limit, and if you dont shoot for the star, than you'll never leave the ground.
