Occasionally interesting work often involving completely new technologies, relatively laid-back industry (that is, building software for calcified mid-scale government entities), fairly insulated against economic cycles (such as those caused by the covid pandemic). I have been able to work remotely from anywhere even when I was reporting to an actual office.

Cons

Trying to get your brain around lots of undocumented legacy code, not great pay given the experience. Perks tend to be non-existent since you're working for a private equity conglomerate intent on keeping costs low.
