Pros

They are very organized and take care of the details. the new hire training was extensive and employees can take additional classes through the intranet site. I remember getting an email on my first anniversary with a code for a gift. This went away during the recession in 2008 but showed willingness of CBRE to recognize their employees.

Cons

It can be challenging to advance in the company as a property manager. If you are doing a good job, the Director does not want you to move. Sometimes you have to leave in order to advance your career. On the sales side this is not the case since the compensation is performance driven.

Pros

I can only think of one pro. A job is a job and it's better than being unemployed.

Cons

Where shall I begin? How about the fact that they give you a cell phone and you are required to keep it at your hip 24-7. The time spent answering calls and responding to questions or problems can be anywhere from a couple of minutes to a couple of hours. The main thing is that they are not going to pay you for that time. Furthermore, I have not been allowed overtime, although I am an hourly employee. If I work over 8 hours in a given day, I am told to take a couple of hours off on such and such day (they usually name the day...sometimes not in the same pay period). I am told they were sued for this before, yet they continue to do it. They are just too big for their own good! Additionally, they need to begin promoting from within in the area of maintenance. Bringing someone in as Facilities Manager who has no experience in maintenance (which is common for them) and is simply a pencil pushing numbers cruncher is a huge mistake. They need to start promoting their internal candidates instead.
