      Pros

      The company brings in interesting projects, provides a pretty good work-life balance, provides good healthcare benefits, and has developed a mentoring program for most staff.

      Cons

      The company has lost sight of its employees. Everyone is seen as a productivity percentage, bonuses are only given to upper management and the corporate heads are quick to spend money on restructuring, questionable technology and office space upgrades, and internal programs that primarily serve the east coast offices.

      Extreme Difference in Quality of Workforce

      Pros

      Interesting projects. Global company. Privately held. Opportunities.

      Cons

      Lots of older workers who want the status quo despite flat line revenue growth for the past five years. Lots of fiefdoms. Older workers are in management because of engineering successes yet do not have a clue as to how to manage. Old school. Poor systems - nothing integrated. Newer workers are better but overall staff is B quality due to old school system for retention. Name is not widely known so perspective employers are not that impressed as I am finding out.

      Pros

      At CDM Smith, there are many large and complex jobs, flexible hours, and good employees to work with. Great benefits as well.

      Cons

      Corporate doesn't communicate well with the individual offices and staff-level employees. The mentoring program is not set up in a way to be nearly as effective as it could be.
