Pros

Big company, even in slumps don't tend to let people off. Management tends to leave employees alone on their assignments (don't intervein).

Cons

Feels like a religion and a very incestuous place to be, if you're not in the "Gang' you will always be ignored promotions and salary increases. Salary increases are always between 0-5% but usally in the 2-3% corner and doing a good job doesn't change anything. Unless you start looking elsewhere your salary won't go up. Even if you want to change technology, you better be prepared to wait a couple of years (3-5 years). Suck up employees will go far!

Pros

- Clearly the monney. It's one of the place that pays you the most for being in a call center. At least on my departement. Best I've seen was Desjardin at 1.50$ more than here but you were asked over there to sell stuff while you help people so overall I prefer to make a little less but have a nicer job. - Working in a office is already better than being outside under rain and snow, thought its ridiculously way too cold here. - More advancement possibilities than let says a shop like BestBuy or a local PC store. - I answer to staff from Desjardins instead of mad customers for the ATM.

Cons

- It's very far from home - They won't let you leave 10-15min earlier even if there's no call since 1 houre and that the next train is in almost 2 houres. - Very very repetitive but at least simple. - It's damn cold and there's way too much white neon/light around the office, it kills my eyes. - You can't have your own little "office" with ur workstation if you do any less than 37.5houres per week. It used to be 26 and over to have ur place which was very nice but thanks for the governement to have cut in the budget... - They give you **** if you are 2min late even if there's no call at all in wait and that there's already 4-5 people ready to answer before you. - You never eat at the same houre in the phone center departement - You only get the socials advantage when you get permanant instead of temporary staff, even if you work full time. It can take most of the time 2-3 years to get it since they may have 2 per years to offer. - You have no pension for when you get old. You need to build ur money by first being permanant then put money in the actions/bourse. - The chairs and other equipement they give us is extremly crappy. Hell it would barrely cost them anything to give us good stuff.... so far I've brand my own keyboard/mouse.

Pros

CGI can be very accommodating of work/life balance concerns. In the past, they accommodated work from home and part-time situations for me and many of my co-workers to assist with school, health and other reasons. Additionally, much of the consulting work is done in company offices, so the atmosphere is very different from other consulting firms which generally work on the client site.

Cons

“You don’t work at CGI to become rich” is the words of my account leadership. The company is generally known to have a lower total compensation package from that of similar consulting firms. The company consists of many divisions, and the pay, type of work, and amount of work done varies across groups – the expectations of a Sr. Consultant in one group is not necessarily the same in another. Additionally, the company is still addressing issues with merging the AMS consulting practice (e.g., custom system development and COTS implementation) into the business services (e.g., data center hosting, etc) of CGI.
