      Did not challenge me as an intern

      Pros

      Fortunately I was able to network with some engineers who were more in line with what I wanted out of a mentor. I also really enjoyed the internship program which included site visits, informational talks, and out of work activities like laser tag. In the end, this wasn't enough to make me want to go back for another Summer but it was still valuable experience for me heading forward onto other pursuits.

      Cons

      I was initially very excited to work at CHA and immediately accepted the offer there. Unfortunately, what began as a fun experience became a monotonous routine. My manager did not challenge me with assignments or take time to properly teach me things. They were often busy and I would go days without seeing them. The office was a grey color and made me feel as if I was living in a tangible Dilbert world. Most employees did not seem to be particularly interested in socializing either which led to a focus on work mostly. This left me to a routine of viewing plans and archiving files for days on end which was not particularly challenging.

It's great to hear that you enjoyed the site visits and informational talks with leaders from our team. It's our belief that if we can provide our interns with context and hands-on experience it will help to develop and grow them into the future talent we need on our team. As for the appearance of our offices in Colonie; we've begun a top to bottom renovation several months ago and look forward to having a brand new space to work in very soon!

      The work was ridiculous and the people act like they in Highschool

      Pros

      Flexibility to work from home when not traveling.

      Cons

      Bonuses paid out in July of the following year. No metric for bonuses, in turn bonuses are $20-30k below market average. Bonus potential was not conveyed accurately/truthfully during interview process. Restricted growth/experience due to lack of diversity in clients. No middle management positions. Limited experience. Told in interview traveling would be required 1-2 times per month. In reality, required to travel every week, 2-4 days per week, for years on end. Sometimes through weekends. Not great for family. Limited support staff, not setup like a true construction company.
