      Senior Mgmt spends lavishly on itself even though mission is to heal the poor.

      Pros

      Mission is extremely important. Pay and benefits fairly good. Facilities very nice and nothing is spared to make upper employees comfortable.

      Cons

      Not a good atmosphere for creative individuals due to cumbersome approval process. Some senior management actually seem to block advancement. Culture is defined one way but actually practiced another. Since it is a Catholic organization devoted to follow teachings of Jesus Christ, it would be more helpful for management to take a cue from the sisters who founded the organization and treat all employees with respect and value individual differences.

      Non clinical people are underrated and seen as expendable.

      Pros

      Except for upper management, it was a pleasant place to work. Upper management didn't seem to be in touch with the workings of the hospital.

      Cons

      Christus first cut the hours of the non clinical people and eventually laid off more than 100 people within the past year. They kept the merit pay that they were withholding for the people they laid off. There is absolutely no job security with this company. The insurance plan is ridiculous; you have to fight to get them to pay for anything. Definitely not an an employee oriented company.
