Pros

Many opportunities to get involved with various projects both in tax and audit. Every manager and partner I worked with was more than willing to answer questions. During tax season, I didn't usually stay past 7pm and no later than 2pm on Saturdays.

Cons

At CLA, an entry level accountant must be pooled - meaning they work in both tax and audit. If an individual really likes one area over the other, it seems as though they don't have a choice but to do both. While I think this is beneficial as far as having a broad understanding of both areas, it can also be frustrating if you really like one area more than the other.

Pros

Solid foundation, plenty of room to advance should that be your goal. Dixon office very friendly and accomodating co-workers. They made me feel wanted and accepted here from day 1.

Cons

Feel as though I am not compensated well enough for how much work is done. Dixon office is primarily Ag-client based and that is not ideal for myself (someone who has very little interest in the Ag field).

Pros

The health benefits, the automatic four weeks vacation (no waiting a year for a single week), and the constant encouragement for career growth either within the company or as an alumni.

Cons

I have yet to encounter something I have not liked within the firm. You have the opportunity to work on large engagements right out of the gate, and the opportunity to work with so many smart and interesting people.
