Pros

I worked with a lot of really talented people. Since the business is very dynamic and always changing, I was always challenged and learned a lot about the derivatives industry.

Cons

There are a lot of politics at the CME and people play favorites, and the favorites aren't the best employees.

Pros

Paid Time Off (PTO) is good (i have 5 weeks now). Pension. Medical benefits are still better than most although that seems to get worse year after year. Office space and kitchens are nice and clean. Work from home is available for many positions. PC hardware is up to date and iphone is the standard phone.

Cons

Used to be a friendly, welcoming and helpful atmosphere that made people happy to come to work. After numerous layoffs and corporate changes, employee morale is so bad that a day at the office is like being at a funeral all day. - no formal job description - no clear growth paths for promotions - promotions seem to go to "buddies" - costs and expenses are under heavy scrutiny - reimbursement for travel, internet, stipends, overtime, bonuses etc The mindset seems to be that everyone is operating in survival mode trying to avoid being fired.

Pros

Interesting work and good overall benefits

Cons

C suite seems out of touch with the lives employees lead. CEO’s communication often sounds angry and many comments made that are disrespectful to employees go unaddressed. Recently top management seems to be growing increasingly detached from real issues people face including why work life balance and flex scheduling is crucial and leads to savings for employees, greater ability to focus on work since each person’s schedule will be optimal for them, and increased productivity. Very old school mentalities spread industry wide. This will continue to pose issues for working parents, new hires with competing offers, any employee who has come to value flexibility, and for talent retention. Feedback is requested frequently after meetings but it is anyone’s guess what anyone does with that feedback as there is often no follow up or addressing of issues raised. Pay needs to be more competitive and some cost cutting needs to be reevaluated so company can invest in its employees.
