Drowning from day one

Pros

401k match exceeds industry standards.

Cons

I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on at this place. They pump you full of useless training from day one. Before you are even able to get your feet wet with the outdated systems (which they refuse to invest in) they start overloading you with old claims that are literally on fire. The company has unrealistic expectations with little to no assistance from management. Not to mention the low salary range and minimal pay increases, all in all the juice is not worth the squeeze.

Pros

Good location, great 401k, work life balance is fair depending on manager, new office space is tough for attorneys but remote work readily accepted

Cons

Minorities and women are sidelined even though the leadership talks about diversity it does not exist in reality. Same thing with doing the right thing. The company preaches their commitment to ethical and legal activities but their actions show otherwise.

Horrible company culture

Pros

New building is the only nice thing

Cons

There is a lack of diversity at CNA. It’s a traditional company where culture still has not transformed. It is expected that females behave/act a certain way (bubble/giggly). If a female is more direct and has a stronger personality, immediately seen as a negative and there will be feedback from all sides bashing it. Additionally, the performance management culture is harsh. Every little thing is nitpicked just to justify a lower rating. The employee morale is low for that very reason. Management needs to rethink performance management and how employees are coached.
