A chance to start a career but with many obstacles

Pros

They provide good sales training but unless you have a strong initial start and a great referral network, you will be asked to leave. It is a solid company that provides good service to its policy holders.

Cons

You are encouraged to buy leads that seem worthless. The do not call list makes providing effort difficult. Leaving the clients you initially counseled in is not satisfying.

They fly you out to their company headquarters for training, which was fun and informative. My manager was knowledgable and my fellow agents were helpful at times.

Cons

Country's rates are awful, and their marketing budget is tiny, which means they're not well known in most areas and hard to sell.

I have worked for COUNTRY for 11 years and enjoy my career. The company provides a salary for those looking to get into the business of insurance and financial services sales, which is hard to find. I started off as an employee Rep and after 3/12 years converted to an independant contractor owning my own practice that I built from scratch. There is a lot of opportunity for growth and they encourage and provide compensation for professional designations.

Cons

You have to put in a lot of effort. This is not a career for someone looking for sales to come to them. You have to network and you have to sell. While being provided a salary, you have to meet sales benchmark requirements. A sales job is tough.
