Pros
Money and benefits are good. pretty hard to find a job with this pay right off the street
Cons
The job itself is fun and most of the people are good to work with. I never had any issues with management. The worst side of this job is the hours. You get a 2 hour call for work whether its 10am or 145am. You only get 24hours between your shift which seems good but its really not...always tired. Your body won't know what day it is or what time it is...good luck sleeping more than 4 hours at any time. Say goodbye to your family, friends, gf or wife...you will never see them. The fatigue makes the job very dangerous and it only takes one momentary lapse of judgment or paying attention and bad things will happen very quick. There are no small accidents or injuries on the railway. I would not recommend this job to anyone due to the lack of quality of life and the inherit dangers of working fatigued all the time.
