      Decent pay, decent workload if you work for the right manager.

      Cons

      Not progessive or open to new ideas Promotions based on politics and not performance Frequent changes in management Performance evaluations are a joke

      Pros

      Benefits are good, but all railroad benefits are good.

      Cons

      Sr. Leadership operates with extreme distrust of employees doing actual work. There is constant pressure to be faster, quicker, but grossly understaffed. People are afraid to speak up. When you are conf calls, if you don't say something exactly right, your direct manager will be messaged and you will get chastised afterwards. Sr. Leadership is always needing 'proof' for CYA - people are afraid to speak truth, but rather report and tell how things are great when not. Extremely overworked and zero work-life balance.

      Decent pay. Good people at the lower levels.

      Cons

      KCS came out on the losing side of the CPKC merger. The top tier took care of themselves with huge separate packages and left the rest of us to fend for ourselves. The new environment is toxic chaos involving bad treatment of employees. Only a few make decisions with no input from below. If you decide to work here, be prepared to keep your head down and mouth shut.
