No longer a company about employees

Pros

Okay pay. Okay benefits (while they still exist). Okay hours and dress. In previous years Employees were proud to work here. Not a bad place to use to obtain experience on your road to better/other companies.

Cons

The new one company focus is on just that - the company. No longer is there a focus or concern about the employee. Benefits that exist are slowly being taken away. Jobs lost are not back-filled. Instead of how can we help you or how can we make this a better place for our employees, it's if you don't like it here please leave. Advancement is from employee to management and nothing more.

Pros

Improved vision over the last 3 years. New CEO is bringing private sector approach and accountability to this public sector utility.

Cons

IT teams have too many riders and not enough leaders. This expense is hurting ability to execute, but CPSE lacks to political will to do what is necessary to deal with the problem. As a muni, CPSE is still driven too much by city politics rather than what is best for customers and a PC culture that doesn't always reward merit and protects non-performers.
