Good Company, Be Mindful of Contract Timelines

Pros

Good HR department. Very helpful and available to support questions on timekeeping, bonus program, end of contract support, etc. Regular communication from leadership but low level of interference with daily activities. Performance recognition (and bonus $). 100% time billable to client so 40 hours/week = 40 hours. Good education benefit reimbursement program.

Cons

Contract work is different than other private sector employment. Be very clear on contract timeline and stipulations Before taking a position. Contract extensions can occur outside these timelines (it did for me) with good performance and a willing client but there is still a risk. Could be slightly higher pay based on this risk.

Pros

Only Pro - Company provided a decent spec machine for dev work

Cons

Co-owner of company might be your on-site manager, not a PM or other supervisor. Company has the mentality to hire "butt-to-seat" employee's to fulfill contractual obligations (numbers over value of work) Company doesn't believe in reviews (positive or negative) - don't count on getting any kind of raise as other companies have that standard in place Benefits could be better

-Decent people to work with. -Good PTO.

Cons

-Terrible communication between workers and management. -Many times there will be zero work without any guidance. -Lack of professionalism. -Not much growth.
