Favoritism is a big one within this company. If management finds any reason to dislike you they will do anything they can to get you formally in trouble. This comes with the disadvantage that if you are not a favorite, you will NEVER move up within the company. This is not a career you should work towards, this is a job. A candidate that has recently graduated high school might find this opportunity as an amazing well-paying job, (for the first month) then the stress piles up. You will soon realize that the pay is barely above minimum wage ($8,85) without experience for a RECEPTION TECH and the "raises" that the company allows each center to have is a ridiculously low amount. I'm talking A QUARTER A YEAR. You can do your own research. Google how much the CEO made in 2013 and you will be disgusted.
Incentives are extremely low within the company. Granted yes for a company with a staff over 30 it is hard to keep track of everyone, but the little things matter. Every month at a meeting in the beginning all birthdays are announced. During one particular month it felt as if the person that conducted this information intentionally skipped my birthday. If a company showed more appreciation with each employee by a simple reward it would help raise moral within the staff. I do not want to be at a job to just go through the motions and come to work just for a paycheck. I want to feel as if I made a difference and helped out. It is nice to feel like you are an important asset to the company and it is a privilege to be working for them. That doesn’t happen here.
With any job that does not care about their employees, they do not care about anything that happens outside of work. If you have children this is going to be the worst place to work. They will work with your schedule in the beginning but when stress and lack of employees available, rules begin to bend under management discretion. When this happens there is a high amount of confusion and no communication skills within the staff unless brought upon by each designated area. during the month there is an endless list of rules being shifted and altered and with one mandatory meeting a month, these issues are rarely addressed, staff are not informed of all rules that have become active and most rules made up on the fly are passed around by word of mouth. Any current employee might not realize this but ultimately most of your day will be comprised of playing "Where's Waldo" with the majority of management, leads and seniors. This also applies to materials and supplies to be able to do the job effectively while following all safety procedures. They can go weeks to months at a time without having the proper face shields while we have to salvage anything we can find.
Understanding that just a mere tech wouldn’t be able to make such a big impact in the company sometimes it just feels like you are unimportant and extremely replaceable. There is a low sense of self appreciation and with how much stress falls on the staff. They should at least have something small every once in a while to remind us that we are important to the company. Maybe I am asking too much but when there are issues some of us do not feel secure enough to talk to management.
As a company it is harder to train someone rather than to keep someone and I see that when there is a high turnover rate, things start becoming chaotic. These are the times that a company should take initiative to appreciate the ones that are still there. It’s easy to say “I Quit” at any given moment, but the ones that have toughed it out for as long as they have might have given up many opportunities because they have a sense of guilt when leaving a company in their time of need (being understaffed) I know this because I have given up a few opportunities for CSL PLASMA. When you feel like there is nothing left to hold on to and you are not appreciated for the hard work and effort and even the extra little things to try to keep the company flowing smoothly, means nothing when unnoticed over and over. Yes the first few times you might feel accomplished but then it might turn into a routine then force of habit until you are burnt out and used to your max.
I have called cooperate before, the employee that was supposed to transfer me over to HR did not complete the call transfer and ended up hanging up on me. This happened twice so by the third time getting connected to the same female, she begun to sound annoyed. Also unless I had the worst luck in history nobody ever seems to be working and you always have to leave a message and they will get back to you. Which is complete horse shxx and they will put it off as much as they can. (sound familiar?)
Basically what I have learned from working at CSL Plasma is that if it’s too easy, you’re doing it wrong and if doing something one way makes sense, this company will rip it apart and purposely find a complex way of doing things. And the pay sucks.
