Pros

The pay, beneifits, and retirement are great, no college education required, free health and wellness programs, great comradarie among co-workers.

Cons

No family life, on call 24/7 365 days a year, being laid off for extended periods. Managers are now hired out of college, instead of coming up through the ranks. They have no knowledge of the operations, equipment, or personal they are required to supervise. Constant fear of losing your job over small rules infractions. Pay raises are not keeping up with inflation. After 6 months of training, you have all the responsibilities of a 5+ years conductor at 80% of the pay.

Pros

the retirement and benefits are good

Cons

the schedule is very bad - you are unable to have any family life- they are always looking for reasons to fire you - the management is always looking for ways to cut corners and then blames the employees when something goes wrong-
