Work a lot, time off is not a thing.

Hours Time off Limited work force in certain departments leaving no one to cover sick days, vacation etc. can’t even leave for lunch or take care of appointments on a lunch break because you don’t get one.

No sick time Pay and vacation scale are behind the times

Work life balance seniority will keep you on the board for years jobs . People will play the game for time off effects next person in line Management and communication

Hostile management, bad hours, attendance policy that penalizes you for not getting others sick, and rules that will cause long term health issues because they don’t want to spend money.

No quality of life. Harassment from management for taking time off. No morale/ bad relationship between union members and management. Work on call holidays, weekends, overnights.

Since the hedge fund take over the employee experience has really gone downhill. Staffing is incredibly short, and you'll be expected to make up for that. The pay may be good, but it often comes at the sacrifice of family and personal time. The days and hours blend together after a while, and weekends don't exist.

Sometimes it was difficult to institute change... was met with a lot of "that's not how we do things at CSX."
