Pros

Nice clean and quiet work environment (by product of telecom). Good pay(if you can negotiate) and great insurance. Tons of locations, so if you're open to moving, there could be advancement.

Cons

Where to start! They tried to low-ball me on salary to take advantage of people moving to Denver, which should have been a red flag. They shove sheer volume out the door and the customer is absolutely furious that CTDI doesn't care one bit about quality. The 401k and bonus programs are a joke. HR sells this "fish in a barrel" type of easy bonus, but really they are the only ones with that easy program. Anybody in the Operations side will rarely see a bonus, if ever. The Owners treat employees like utter crap, more like minions than employees. Corporate has no clue what each branch is doing, it's almost like the branches are franchises. The company runs well more than the 70% temp ratio they say they do including key areas that should be full-time, like QC. In the 3 months I've been here, they've had 5 layoffs and hire people to the average of 10-15 people a week. This kind of turnover is nothing more than a revolving door because people see how bad this place is immediately. It took a month to get a computer, still waiting on a company cell phone, and the new building we work in doesn't even have phone lines. This has been, by far, the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of being associated with. Oh, they also pride themselves on the "annual holiday layoffs"! It doesn't matter if you are hourly or salaried, be prepared to work 12-15 hour days and give up your weekends.

First, as a family-owned company, it has always been very important to CTDI to provide excellent pay and benefits so thank you for mentioning that. Our benefits package which is offered through Independence Blue Cross/Blue Shield is an extremely rich plan and we hope you are enjoying the low monthly employee contributions and $0 deductible for in-network coverage. Second, it sounds like you have had a bit of a rough start and this is possibly due to a lot of transition as we have moved into our beautiful new, state of the art facility in Denver recently and are experiencing some moving pains. The telecommunications industry is very strong and stable but does require us to have a very dynamic work environment where flexibility and adaptability are keys to our success. We are always very appreciative of our workforce that works hard to meet the needs of our customers. Our employees are critical to the success of our business and we value each and every associate and the contributions they make to CTDI. Since founding the company in 1975, the owners have always believed our employees are our greatest asset. This strong belief in our workforce has a direct correlation to our continuous growth and success over the last 40+ years. Unfortunately, business conditions with our customers do require us to occasionally lay off employees but that is one reason we use flexible staffing agencies and we always try to consider other internal needs/opportunities first. CTDI values our entire employee base and overall we have an extremely stable business model with our customers. Additionally, CTDI is committed to establishing the benchmark for quality in the telecommunications industry. As proof of this commitment, CTDI has achieved the following quality registrations: • ISO 9001 Quality Management System • ISO 14001 (CTDI Europe) Environmental Standards • TL 9000 Standard for the TL Categories of Repair, Logistical Service, Installation Service, and Network Engineering Quality is always our top priority and is measured positively by all our customers throughout our operations. We hope you continue to look for the positive opportunities within our successful organization.
