Good Place to work or get your feet wet in retail management
Pros
-Good hours if you're into getting the most out of a part time experience. -Good pay. -Excellent company practice and policies. -Free training as a pharmacy technician even if you never have to work in the pharmacy. -Opportunities to make extra money sometimes (although not much its more than what most companies offer). -Flexibility is somewhat good, however this can vary from store to store and by manager to manager. -Managers are expected to provide a certain level of professionalism towards employees (and vice versa). -Seems to be an inclusive place to work with lots of avenues to help, although sometimes employees don't value eachother the same way and this can cause issues. -
Cons
-High turnover rate for store managers causes a lot of managerial discourse. -No benefits for part time employees -Regionally, stores may not hire full time employees at all or be allowed to by regional managers. -Regionally, stores may reduce your hours without notice. -Weekly hour allotment is usually capped at about 27 hours or slightly more if allowed by upper management. -Required to wear cheap, uncomfortable work shirts that often don't fit and look bad. -Employee resolution and dispute system seems non-existent or non functional. -Employees who cause problems are usually not fired. Either rotated to other locations, or shuffled around somehow. -Workload can be difficult to manage for some employees having larger work loads and inappropriate staffing for product delivery days, or inventory inspection days. -All employees are expected to not only manage customer service, but also every other aspect of the retail floor and stock rooms. Not limited to cashiering, aiding customers, inventory management, stock, cleaning, etc... sometimes the workload is never ending and you're expected to juggle many jobs at one time. -Management often blames non management retail associates for problems out of their control.
