Pros

Its a job that pays the bills. The store level employees are nice, freindly and hard working. Most are reasonably competant in their duties.

Cons

Disrespect from senior managent. Exccessive pressure and stress on retail staff. Inconsistant standards and expectations. Failure of senior management to follow through. Failure of the senior management to listen to workers in regard to both process efficiency, operational effectiveness and saftey.

Pros

Well, job security is a big pro. Benefits are great. Employees for the most part are respectful and most often courteous.

Cons

Pay is something to be desired because the yearly raises are down right horrible at my store 2% to 4%. The Corporate Office system is very confusing (e.g. totally automated) The customers are often disrespectful and sometimes cruel.

Pros

Strong balance sheet. This company is'nt going away anytime soon.

Cons

As a long term retail store manager that has worked for 5 different companies during my career, I can say in all honesty that this is the worst company I have ever worked for. Why? Several reasons: 1. Plan on working 12-15 hours a day and six days in a normal week. During a seasonal change week you can plan on working 80 to 100 hours. The only way you can get your job done without working this hard is if you are lucky enough to run a 24 hours store. Your staff on a given day will consist of you and maybe two other associates. At night you may only have one. 2. Plan on doing everything yourself. Unload the truck. Put out the truck. Clean up the truck. Throw away the trash. Clean the restroom. Ring the customers. Do the POGs. Set the ad. Take down the ad. Management functions??? Do them on the fly if you have anytime left and if you dont...well just work more hours to get them done. 3. Any manager that likes CVS is someone that was promoted from within that has nothing to compare it against. Those people are cool-aid drinkers. DONT DRINK THE COOL-AID. RUN AND RUN FAST. If you're over 40 you will be burned out in the first year...
