Pros

-Offers good training programs if the manager is willing to send you to them -In larger, well-staffed store the work load is generally well distributed -In theory the company's mission is great (Managers and employees tend to forget the company's mission)

Cons

I've worked in 4 stores and I can say that the quality of the working environment is VERY dependent on the manager. That being said most manager's are very clearly under-trained. -Most stores are horridly understaffed leading to large amounts of unneeded stress on lower level employees -Manager's put the photo lab as the lowest priority in the store -Little to no performance feedback until you do something wrong. -Next to no communication with lower level staff

Pros

A good reason to work at Cvs would defenitely be the customers if you genuinely care about people. There are great benefits available to the employees. As a manager at Cvs, you develop a relationship with two sides of the business....front store and pharmacy.

Cons

The company seems very challenged with staffing and the hiring process. Store managers are micro-managed and seem to have little input on how to grow the business. Morale is very low. The Good ole boy system is definitely practiced. There are no checks and balances to ensure employees enjoy some degree of a quality of life. The company has a program in place for customers to take advantage of savings by using coupons, but simultaneously has a procedure in place that monitors transactions of customers changing their mind (voids), due to employee recognizing the customer may have the wrong coupon for a particular product. This method comes across as a form of reprimand for cashiers and discourages cashiers from being able to provide good customer service.
