Pros

Autonomy Decent pay for new NP grads You do not get paid Holiday pay for Christmas Eve, New Years Eve Clinics are open 7 days a week

Cons

Weekends (short staffed constantly so your asked for more all the time). Terrible work/life balance Management constantly changing the way tedious clinic tasks are charted, which complicates the 14 different usernames and passwords the NP already has. Sub-contracted schedule = the NP is required to meet a certain number of weekend days, Mondays & Fridays even if you have the PTO (and someone you’ve never met is managing your schedule (ie,. Life) Floating to clinics 1 hour+ from home (even though your home clinic may be open, they float NP’s to the busier clinics which makes for terrible continuity of care MC is moving more towards a family practice setting so your basically running the clinic on your own in the back of a CVS (even though they will say “goal is to double staff”- they never will/can due to high turnover 8 day training- new grads on their own with no support (complex system and disgruntled patients who have no patience to wait) Patients make their own appointments from home (timing is off- so if NP goes to lunch a bit later -patients show up angry that you are required to take lunch) All services are timed according to what administrators deem appropriate-so if the NP has a complicated patient (or service) too bad. The computer will continue to let patients sign in late

Pros

Good salary, easy to use computer system.

Cons

Constantly adding new tasks while at the same time cutting hours. My store's volume has gone up since last year but have had 80 tech hours cut out of budget. This requires everyone to work in over drive from the second they walk into the pharmacy until they leave. We are losing all of our good employees and the hiring process is more than ridiculous to get new employees hired. We have no voice at all to the point that we don't speak up at all about problems because we know our DMs are powerless to effect any kind of change. We are required to make counseling phone calls and counsel customers at check out, something that I feel is really important but the RPH hours given don't reflect this mandate so we have to just do the best we can rushing people through and praying the conversations are not to in depth. I find myself avoiding eye contact with customers because one question could put me behind causing an entire page to "red"(even though no one is waiting for these prefills) which will affect your monthly scores. No matter how hard you work it will never be enough.
