Pros

Gain knowledge about outdoor products you may be interested in buying, help others learn about topic you're passionate about. Outfitters receive 1% of sales commission they track and log on computer. (Not valid on every department).

Cons

Pay isn't great even as you move up into supervisor or management roles. Store level management is not good. Company forces staff to push their credit cards on customers because the store receives around $100 for every card signed up, and the outfitter only receives $1.

Pros

Great discounts on merchandise and other incentives. New program for commission incentive works out great. Hope they keep it.

Cons

Terrible hourly wages and most employees forced to work only part-time discourages truly dedicated and knowledgable people from coming to work for the company. Seems like they just want warm meat on the floor.

Pros

Clocking in is not a chore. Coming to work is generally fun and Something that I look forward too each day. Management is down to earth and sincerely attempts to get to know and appreciate their employees. Most coworkers are wonderfully easy to be around. In my department work is steady and diverse and my immediate coworker are enjoyable.

Cons

With the current merger, the company is attempting to "trim the fat" to get back into the green and be seen in a favorable light. Unfortunately, this means that all departments are incredibly short staffed. Very few full time employees remain on the payroll and part time employees are getting less than 28, very sporadic, hours a week. In turn, making it hard for them to 1. Make a living and 2. Remain loyal to the company. With having previous management experience with other companies, I would like to move up the ladder, but unfortunately with the state the company and management is in now, I'm not sure that is possible, and not entirely sure how long I can hold out and minimal hours and low pay to see.
