The turnover at my particular Cabelas was very high. I would attribute this to poor training, low wages. I like many of my fellow coworkers who have an extensive background and knowledge in the industry, we love passing our knowledge along to other employees and customers in order to help them make smart purchase choices. You would expect that knowledge would be appreciated and compensated accordingly, however this is not the case. Wether you're highly experienced or a total green newbie you'll be on the same pay scale for the most part. Not enough to make a living! Most employees will only stay long enough to take advantage of the discounts, especially once they've been there for a few months and see that Cabelas is not all it's cracked up to be as an employee.

Sexist behavior, assertive women are considered "confrontational and aggressive" Few female leaders (adult women referred to as "girls") Politically charged banter Open and aggressive disdain for liberals and millennials from both management & the majority of coworkers Blatant gossip Systematic collusion FREQUENT Aggressive & obscene language Unwarranted promotions Retention of under-qualified/ undereducated employees Unprofessional practices : misspelling names, sending emojis to international Vendors, vague communication regarding deadlines and specifics, meeting "takeover"(I.e. The objective of imperative meetings failing to be met due to irrelevant discussions) Consistent failure of professionals to respond to business inquiries Passive aggressive communication Untrustworthy management Poor time management practices Arbitrary job descriptions, you'll do what you're told regardless of the job you applied for Failure to adhere to basic Human Resources policies Irresponsible cultural Christian holiday ONLY early dismissals Majority of food options and employee wellness is unhealthy (corn dog eating contests, weekly pot lucks" Lack of transparency Lack of genuine leadership Lack of professional training Not a space for growth Lack of honest feedback / regular performance reviews Lack of meaningful work/ work at all Overstaffed with simple job tasks Redundant and arbitrary meeting overload without clear and specific objectives, company-wife messages are left up to manager and team interpretation Management complaints to team members regarding other team members Minimal follow through regarding several tasks and ideas
