Pros

You get to look at some nice equipment you usually cannot afford. You get to try to convince customers that the junk the company is trying to push is junk.

Cons

No guarantee of hours. Did away with department managers and switched to toadying section managers. NO pay raises. Poor benefits. Pushing company owned credit cards. Poor employee discounts. Extreme favoritism. Forced to sell garbage. Staff trained in what to sell by vendors. Often no real knowledge of items no real time to test items. Company knowingly sold defective merchandise. Forced to drive point sales and disregard trying to get return customers. Constanttly trying to have retail sales staff work at registers instead of trying to do their jobs and sell merchandise. Refusal to give commissions. No sick leave. Pressure to stay at work in very bad winter weather instead of going home when safe. No chance of advancement they do not promote from retail to corporate. If you have a scheduled day off and haven't hit your 40 hours for the week you are on call. Cutting back on hours,

Hard Work, Poor Pay

Pros

Freedom to make decisions. Ok discounts, discount off of original price, not sale price though. Fast pace environment during holidays.

Cons

Poor communication. Terrible Pay. Front end supervisor position pays way less than other supervisor positions but with way more responsibility. Poor cross training in departments. Lack of Point of Sale training for floor employees.

Pros

They pay well and promote their best workers. It's a very family friendly atmosphere.

Cons

This may have changed, but the store manager at the Fort Worth location was rarely seen. He would come down when we had long lines in the front and try to fix it, but short of him getting on a register, there was nothing to be done. If you needed to find him he was either in his office, in the firearms section or gone.
