Terrible Local Management in Hoffman Estates

Pros

If you are an avid outdoors person (hunting, fishing, etc.) it's like being let loose in a candy store

Cons

Management is terrible - demeaning, incompetent in its handling of management functions such as scheduling, employee retention, employee motivation. GM and Asst. GM rally the tropps by reading spreadsheets to them. If sales are down, store management blames the rank and file for not pushing product hard enough. There are also too many money- making gimmicks such as credit cards, product insurance, etc.

Love of the outdoor lifestyle.....enjoy the outdoor culture.....I am a conservationist so it works with my beliefs

Cons

These people are clueless. We had a terrible Christmas selling season. I was in Bass Pro Shops and they were extremely busy. Cabelas not so much. Does it have anything to do with the shine coming off the crown. On top of this it is such a terrible place to work. I blame this on the CEO and top management. Try to embrace the people you have brought into the company to grow it. Do not alienate us.....do not treat us like second class employees. There must have been a reason we were hired.
