Cable One is a great company with opportunity to become even better.
Pros
Cable One does well in regards to actively creating products and services to keep our existing customer coming back, and entice new customers to sign up. Technology Services is a network of specialized teams that overall has a good culture, and is an environment an individual can enjoy working in. With all the new things coming down the pipe, there is never a lack of things to keep a person busy. For the most part, upper management is approachable and will take the time to talk to associates about any item, big or small. The company has started to make some more efforts to show associates they are appreciated (outside of the regular paycheck) and bring our teams closer. Projects are in motion to help bring the company up to using more advanced technology and tools, which is a positive for both customers and employees.
Cons
There is always a fine line where too much of a good thing can become a negative. While it is great that Cable One is actively creating new products and services for customers, too much change at once can create too many open projects and tasks at once. When projects are properly managed with time and resources this is not an issue, but Cable One like to push ahead and keep to tight timelines, even when it isn’t necessarily in the best interest of the project. It seems at times that all the rapid changes can contribute to communication issues between departments, from groups within the corporate office out to local offices. Overall, Technology Services at Cable One has a good culture, but there has been a little bit of a downward trend in the last few years. Fortunately, there have been some recent changes that have been occurring that seem to be the start of moving us back in the right direction, to bring the group back from being good to great. Some departments have outdated job descriptions and roles, with outdated pay scales tied to them.
