Pros

Compensation and benefits are good. Depending on which department you are in or who you work for, life can be comfortable or stressful. Try to talk to someone inside if you can before you accept the offer. There were still brilliant people working in the company. Overall, it is a good place for entry level PhD.

Cons

Not much formal training program. Very limited investment on R&D. Not much advancement opportunity for BS or MS. Even for PhDs, if you are not from MIT, you won't get noticed. So no advancement. It is a pity. Not many growth opportunity for those who do the real work. A lot of good people have left when I was there.

Great people empty promises

Pros

Exciting research, great people, and good compensation and benefits

Cons

Make sure you get everything in detailed writing that leaves no room for interpretation. As managers come and go, one manager's promise doesn't mean anything to the next or the HR people.
