It is very difficult to get promotions. No succession planning for most employees, only select positions.

Pros

Great place to work. It's nice to work at a place that feels like it's contributing to the greater good. Flexible hours, depending on work group needs. Micromanagement is rare, although it does happen.

Cons

Sometimes hard to get ahead - seems to be all about who you know.
