      Easy Going Environment

      Pros

      Most supervisors are relaxed and respect your life outside of work. There can be a fair amount of flexibility with work schedule and taking time off. You can take a pay cut for getting more PTO. There is a lot of learning opportunity but you have to be self motivated to get on projects that will help you learn and to learn the skills that will help you develop your career.

      Cons

      Easy to fall into a pattern of incompetence if you don't put the work in to keep growing. You can get stuck on a project where you aren't doing much and learning much. Some project leads seem to be lacking the skills to effectively perform their roles.

      Pros

      Caltrans has a great Work/life balance. There are many growth opportunities. It is an amazing and diverse culture to work in.

      Lack of training opportunities Pay is less than others doing similar roles at different agencies.

      Pros

      The benefits are good but even that isn't enough to stay. Do not work at this office in administration, hiring, human resources, etc. if you're not white. It's best to stay in Sacramento. They did not promote a healthy balance of work, a good work life balance, diversity, etc. I can't talk about the other districts but District 3 is terrible. Management will make sure you hate coming to work.

      MANAGEMENT, nepotism, racism, the list goes on.
