Pros

Can contribute to large and interesting transportation projects while protecting natural and cultural resources.

Cons

No staff retainment and a hostile management style by top supervisors made a sad work environment.

Pros

You have a job and that is it. Be thankful for that if you don’t have any other options.

Cons

1. Low talent pool : Seniors lack experience, mentorship, are not resourceful, lack organization and planning skills. A good portion cannot write effectively nor can use MS Office or have the technical aptitude of engineering skills. 2. Nepotism from top down. Panelists that interview applicants for Senior or Rank/File employees are made up of friends who know each other for a long time. Think about that for a sec! There have been people promoted that just came in 2020 vs others that have worked for 20+ years that had applied with lots of experience. Think about that! Panelists and seniors hire there relatives, sons, daughters, friends of friends, etc….favoritism and nepotism is rampant. This should be investigated, audited, and these people should be fired, period! This is especially rampant in District 12. Majority of the makeup are comprised of Persian and Asian descent. 3. 20% of the people that work at this agency do 100% of the work. The other 80% do not produce much either purposefully or because of lack of skills, or again they are not held accountable because they were hired by people that were in one shape or form related to them. 4. Complete lack of innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement because people just want to maintain the status quo. This is a top down problem as well as the combination of comments/issues above. 5. If your Senior lacks interest, lacks experience, lacks enforcement, encouragement, is inconsequential, then your life will be a living hell! People just leave that came a couple years ago because of this. Guess why because there Senior lacks managerial skills or is not experienced to build a proper support system for you. Or a sly because there buddies hired them at that role. 5. I can go on and on, but will this make any changes to this agency. I don’t think so but guess what? This agency is becoming an oversight agency and with the attrition rate going on and the number of retirees the decision making power of personnel here will soon be diminished. It is bound to happen soon or later because the cracks in the system are way too many.

Pros

Ability to learn how the transportation system is supposed to work. If you can find those few good leaders that can mentor you.

Cons

Horrible work environment. Hostile and promotions are only given to those who are suck up to managment or if promoted to get you out of their area. Most, about 95% of top management are incompetent. There is a lot of nepotism happening within the organization.
