Slow paced but not stagnant

Pros

Relative freedom with projects and very work-at-your own pace type work place. A big pro if you are a self motivated worker.

Cons

Same as the pro which is the work-at-your own pace environment. This unfortunately leads to some stagnation among workers.

Good job, pay sucks

Pros

For attorneys, there are a lot of really smart people who work here that take the job because of excellent work-life balance. An opportunity to have lots of independence and take control of your cases and learn a lot. There's hardly any turnover. Most people work here for their entire careers.

Cons

The pay is truly terrible.

It's Government

Pros

It's Government. Stable steady work year around. Opportunity to advance if you're willing to move or commute ridiculous distances, and you're good at test taking.

Cons

It's Government. Plan on having to accept a position where you can't afford to live, then promote closer and closer to your intended location. It's Government, so plan on taking tests to demonstrate your worthiness to advance. It's Government, it's nearly impossible to get fired for incompetence. Makes it a safe haven for culls. It's Government, so a lot of tasks you do makes no logical sense, but that's what some engineer in Sac said to do so you do it, i.e. cut all the willows out of a drainage ditch in the winter, then that summer plant willows in the ditch across the street and dump thousands of gallons of water on them every week because it's summer and the ditch is dry.
