Pros

Owned by Toshiba, but operates quite independently. Good benefits. Outings are somewhat regular. Routes to talk directly to upper management if necessary, for any reason. Large mix of people, both in technical expertise and business units. My boss, his bosses boss, and pretty much everyone up the chain are pretty cool people. GM Jim Litterer seems like a straight forward guys-guy.

Cons

Company is only just starting to begin adopting agile across the board. Very traditional development model, but folks are starting to see the benefits to the change that are quickly coming. Almost 100% Windows shop (opinion).

Pros

Vital Images has a very friendly culture and everyone treats each other like family. The executives are in and around the office and very approachable for employees to ask questions. The benefits and extra perks within the organization are also fantastic - free fruit around the office, an on-site deli, wellness activities, etc.

Cons

I would say there are no cons to working within Vital Images.

Pros

Vital allows me to work from home since I did not want to move to Minneapolis. My boss(es) trust me to do my job and do not micro-manage at all. It is wonderful! My colleagues are also really supportive and we all have a team mentality in our department. Vital is involved in the local community and management is supportive of community service by granting 2 paid days to each employee that wants to volunteer. Vital also supports living a healthy lifestyle by providing monetary rewards for healthy activity.

Cons

I do not have a clear vision for my career path. I love what I do, but I don't know what the next steps for advancement are. Working from home has a negative side to things - I feel a little out of touch with colleagues & I miss out on much of the camaraderie & inside jokes.
