Pros

- a college-hire specific onboarding program that prepared me to work in the industry - supportive coworkers who answer endless questions and offer mentorship on day 1 - ability to get involved with internal initiatives and grow my skills.

As you know, we’ve recently expanded our college onboarding process by creating the Discovery Program, a year-long onboarding for our college hires to help prepare this top talent for their first client work. We think it’s incredibly important to closely mentor our new grad hires in their first year with us. Providing a safe space to learn, make mistakes, find solutions, ask questions, and grow those professional soft skills is vital to giving our early talent the best start in consulting. Pros

-Kind coworkers -Nice offices -No travel for most

Cons

-Management is hyper-focused on staffing efficiency. This often results in consultants being staffed/extended on projects that do not fully utilize their skill sets, much less challenge them. -Many consultants remain at the same clients for extended periods of time. -Main paths to career advancement are through taking on management responsibilities as opposed to increased technical proficiency. -Employee development is treaded as something to be handled in addition to 40+ billable hours each week. Offering internal projects, training, tech challenges and other extracurricular development opportunities is not helpful for people trying to maintain work/life balance. -Mediocre pay/benefits -The combination of these factors is leading many of the most talented individuals to pursue opportunities elsewhere
