Pretty Good Place to Work

Pros

CapTech's executive philosophies for how they'd like to treat their staff are better than anywhere else I've worked and certainly better than other consulting firms. The culture is great here. Truly. And I'm a tough critic. Everyone that I worked with was very friendly. When they say 'work life balance', they actually mean it. Some companies have reviews on here that profess work life balance when you'll actually end up working 50+ hour weeks. Not at CapTech - they really offer true, 40 hour work weeks, at least in my experience. The company invests in the little things to make you happy - office snacks, regular office events, swag, fun annual company-wide meetings, etc. I felt as though the pay was generous for what I was doing.

Cons

I was hired for a position that was not suited for my skills (at all) and also wasn't anywhere close to what was advertised in the job posting. In some ways, it felt like a 'bait and switch' situation. As a result, I didn't stay very long. I want a career and not a job - work for me isn't just about a paycheck, it's about building out my resume as well. Project management on my project could definitely have been improved. There were significant communication problems across the team and management was just generally disorganized and didn't appear to have a consistent or solid vision for what we should we doing and how we should be doing it. I understand that it was a big team that was spun up quickly with a lot of new hires, but it was really frustrating for just about every staff member that I spoke to. Every staff member seemed to be trying to plan their exit from the project.
