Pros

Compensation, Severance Pay, Work Distractions, Mostly Clean Bathrooms

Cons

A few of my colleagues were laid off earlier this year and I was laid off before them. I get that the economy is in depression now, but there are much more constructive ways to deal with those issues like pivoting, reducing hours/salary, delegating resources, doing temporary layoffs. This company is basically a stack of cards waiting to collapse, lacking financial strength and not meeting targets. - Expect ridiculously long project work cycle hours (16+ hour days) - you can't look after yourself and your family - Leadership is too young, inexperienced - like a startup with cool aid thinking - Leadership is dishonest - Chris Ford lied through his teeth about not downsizing - Politics are rampant especially after poorly chosen projects get cancelled prematurely - They waste time hosting silly, pointless internal events and then post them online instead of supporting billable hours

The unprecedented business environment in which we operate currently has placed significant additional pressures on all companies and most are taking remedial action in the form of redundancies or cuts in pay or hours, particularly in the smaller firms. At Capco, we have sought to act quickly, where necessary, to protect our business and ensure it is positioned appropriately for future growth and success. The speed at which we have acted to identify and address issues has, so far, mitigated against significant change in the business and supported business continuity. Nevertheless a small number of changes have been necessary and we have sought to manage these openly and with sensitivity and ensure those affected are properly supported. The positive feedback on pay and conditions at Capco indicates we have succeeded to some degree, at least. Your comments on leadership are unfair and untrue. It is only by leaders facing up to difficult decisions in an extremely challenging situation that we are able to protect our people, clients and the business for the future. We will make no apologies for undertaking this responsibility with fortitude and in the best interests of the firm as a whole. A relatively young leadership operating in a flat hierarchy enables us to be innovative and entrepreneurial in our response to Covid -19 but not dishonest. We have followed the advice of the WHO, government and health authorities to the letter in formulating our response and been open and honest with our people at all stages. We have shifted our focus to ensure work is profitable, sustainable and staffed appropriately ensuring our employees are as protected as possible in these difficult times.

Pros

I guess the pay?

Cons

Don't let anyone lie to you...this is a glorified staff aug company. At first I though maybe I was just caught on a bad account but quickly realized that everyone in the entire company is trying to either leave the firm all together or get staffed on another project. And good luck voicing you want to leave the account...if you do you might as well kiss any chance at a promotion goodbye due to the fact that the partner team you leave will not give a crap about you. All they want is warm bodies in seats to bill out...I was on an account where everyone was bored as hell and it was such a toxic environment. If you like RAG status updates and doing boring busy work, then this is the place for you. Sr. Mgmt is about as inept as it can get...was very, very lucky to get out and into something that will actually help my career.

Pros

Capco offers the best of both worlds, a small company feel where you will be known and able to make an impact, but also brings a Big 5 punch when it comes to delivering complex projects to top tier clients. Projects are at industry leading companies. The caliber of talent steepens your own growth trajectory, as you are surrounded by passionate, bright, people with deep domain knowledge and technical expertise. You know the impact you can make on the organization and don’t feel like just another number - leadership within your group knows every employee by name. The recent shift to being private is a exciting step to fueling Capco's growth aspirations.

Cons

This holds true with all consulting firms, but since teams are dispersed across clients and locations it sometimes is difficult to come together as much as we would like. There is certainly effort made to do this through a variety of after hours events- social, family and philanthropic. The team looks forward to team wide get togethers as a reunion of sorts with people you don't see on your current project.
