In a employment dry area, CCCC is a great option

Pros

Staff union. Friendly colleagues. Winter (2-week) closure (optional). Great benefits. Management open and very approachable. Union Stewards. opportunities to meet colleagues beyond your department.

Cons

campus and buildings could use a lot of updating, but that is subject to the state's funding. Very friendly co-workers. That applies to faculty and management towards staff. I have worked with other colleges where fac. and mgmnt. couldn't be bothered giving staff a glance walking past you in the hall. Not so at 4 C's. Union stewards are approachable and go the distance for you.

Pros

Lots of autonomy for faculty. Small community means that you know everyone.

Cons

Student enrollment is shrinking. Staff are frightened to step out of line or they will get fired. Poor working environment. Lack of trust of administration and lack of leadership.

Peer tutoring is something every student should be involved with.

Pros

Tutoring other students helps one gain a deeper understanding of the subject while providing a valuable service to the college community.

Cons

Limited to part time. Not the greatest pay but it's better than most part time jobs in the area. The pros of peer tutoring far outweigh the cons.
