Too many meetings, which are disproportionate to the actions actually taken.
We worry a lot about "how things are done", sometimes too much. We are afraid to criticize work (not the person), because we're worried that the person may take it the wrong way. The feedback system needs some work.
Even though compensation and environment is great, don't be disillusioned into thinking this is a utopia. There are many things that happen here just like at other companies. Project estimation is usually aggressive and overly optimistic. There are guidelines that are not followed, making it difficult for people coming into or taking over a project to be lost/confused.
That all said, steps are being taken to make improvements. The fact that everyone recognizes and points out the 800lb. gorilla in the room is a step in the right direction. But it will take time to make those adjustments. The hard part is that no one in the world has ever really solved this kind of problem, so how can you get 9000+ people to move in the same direction? Well, it worked for Krazy George Henderson when he organized the first Wave. We're hoping to find a similar solution.
