Pros

The benefits are decent. It's a steady job if you don't make any waves whatsoever. Flying under the radar is rewarded with job security. "Yes" men are rewarded handsomely. Appearances matter more than your actual capabilities or work product.

Cons

Dissent is not tolerated. Promotions have no apparent rhyme nor reason. Hard work and good jobs are not recognized. Very little promotions from within. If you are thinking of a career here other than sitting in the same position for twenty years and then collecting your retirement package (if the managers haven't fizzled it all away by then), your best bet would probably be to leave the company for a couple of years and then reapply for aposition in Senior Management. That seems to be the way, especially if during that time you can cozy up to some of the CG big-wigs on the golf courses.

Pros

The CG compensation package is unrivalled, managers that listen and care, a Management Committee that does not sit in an ivory tower, they actively seek to listen to associates in every role and act where appropriate. Capital handles difficult situations with empathy, sensitivity, and respect. We are offered active support to develop and bring out the best in ourselves, but you must raise your hand and make the effort, don't expect to get handed anything for free - we are all encouraged to strive for more and grow and are given guidance on how to do that. It is an incredibly rewarding place to work, you feel like you make a difference and are heard. The long tenure of many associates speaks volumes, associates do not want to leave, we are loyal and committed and will continue to be. Our sentences start we US and WE, not I or ME. We share the common goal of improving people’s lives through successful Investing.

Cons

No 'cons' in terms of the company - it is incredible, plenty of ‘cons’ in terms of the expectations of a minority of associates. There are many opportunities available, you must put the effort in to show you are willing and dedicated. There is a sense of entitlement from complaining about the FREE snacks, refreshments, fruit provided to the expectation that goal posts and rules should be moved to suit individuals in terms of days in the office. With the company’s flexible hybrid working policy, generous annual leave, early release in the summer and dependent days, there is no need to change anything. Capital cannot be responsible for every element of everybody's personal life or their responsibilities outside of CG's walls, there must be a sensible business limit to how much support can be given, though I should add the support is very generous. Nor can it be blamed for the non-progression of careers when and if desire and effort are not present.
