Pros

By far the best reasons to work at Capital Group are their benefits and long-term retirement plans. This company goes the extra-mile to ensure every "associate" has the best health care coverage possible. I think it's the gold-standard for how corporate America should carry benefits. Additionally, their retirement plan is top notch. They go above and beyond to provide annual contributions to a separately funded retirement plan. This is on top of a 401(k).

Cons

The downsides are numerous. This is a company and culture that is steeped in privacy and behind-the-door dealings. It's an organization that is rife with manipulation both from a data standpoint and from a personnel/development standpoint. It's an organization that rewards "ratting out" fellow associates and in doing such, creates an environment of extreme paranoia. Capital Group is a very pc-oriented environment and does not tolerate people who tend to think for themselves. It's your typical liberal establishment in that their "intentions" and how they are viewed by others supplants any truly meaningful/thoughtful actions. They are a very surface driven organization - nothing too deep here. It is an organization that is very "feedback" driven. If you have one screw up 5, 10 or 15 years ago, it haunts you for the rest of your time at Capital Group and essentially eliminates any opportunity for meaningful advancement.

Pros

- CG has a strong culture that been nurtured and built over time. - The company strives for fairness in all it does. To some the company may be slow in acting, but that is only to ensure all associates are considered. - CG offers great benefits and compensation. In an absolute and relative sense, the benefits and salary potential are very good. Undoubtedly compensation won't be as good in the future as CG experienced its own bubble the last few years. - CG is a private company, which allows it to manage for the long term. The current layoffs in GIG are meant to position a weakened business model for long term success.

Cons

- recent growth has been overwhelming for the company - difficulty in maintaining unique culture over the last 5 years With that said, I am not sure any other company would have done a better job of handling these challenges.
