      Pros

      MRP Clean offices Always make payroll Investment offices have free drinks and snacks Billions in cash on the balance sheet

      Cons

      Dictatorial approach to management. Good people are now simply going through the motions, waiting for an opportunity to leave. They say they treat associates with respect, but all outside of the 400 or so shareholders are treated like pawns and yet are expected to have the same fanatical "I'll sacrifice anything" mentality that those who get their dividend checks each July pretend is the case.. If there were a stock rating attached to CG, it would be : "AVOID"

      Pros

      - Good benefits especially the MRP, but you have to drink the Capital Kool-Aid for 6 years to become fully vested - Good reputation in investment management industry, although most outside of industry have never heard of it - Very smart people in most departments

      Cons

      - No real "management vision" until it was too late. The departments had complete autonomy and when the money stopped rolling in, then they realized they had big problems. - Too caught up in the "Capital way" of doing things (i.e., employees working in other sectors can't possibly advance to work in portfolio management, despite their accumen, because that's "not the way we do things anymore." - Little room for professional growth - Again, no real leadership. Any "president" or "ceo" is just that in title only. Most things done by a committee of investment professionals with no real management experience. - Low morale

      Pros

      teamwork environment where associates help one another. great benefits and eap program, plenty of paid vacation

      Cons

      Inconsitency among management, political environment where brown-nosers are promoted to roles they are ill equipped to handle. No recognition for accomlishments or education. No upward mobility, micro-managing, unclear and deceptive communication from management creating an environment of mistrust. Poor salaries, lack of respect from management, tedious thankless work.
