Pros

CarMax provides a great atmosphere for employees and customers. Vehicles are clean and there is a big selection. Better than average floor traffic which equates to potential sales.

Cons

Below average commissions plan. Sales reps should be paid hourly when working their EOffice shift, which is mandatory.

Pros

Many locations makes relocation easy, full health benefits, 401K, and stock options available. Great for a part time employee. Great pay if unfamiliar with previous pay structure.

Cons

CarMax is striving to remain competitive. Commission structure has recently changed and will probably continue. You can easily sit around for hours with little to no work waiting on customers during the weekday day especially. Tenured associates have to worker longer and harder hours to earn same pay as in past. CarMax strategically waited to make drastic changes until after 2018 survey for Forbes Best Companies to Work For. As an insider, many successful senior level employees will be gone within the next year.
