Pros

Caterpillar's overall compensation was good, most of the people were nice.

Cons

Leadership was so out of touch with reality. More days than not, we often felt the tension of a toxic environment.

Pros

Absolutely nothing, Caterpillar is essentially level 0 in terms of data analytics preparedness.

Cons

It's a joke to think Caterpillar even has a data analytics department. The Accenture experiment with Morgan was a bust. Uptake was a bust. Caterpillar can't buy a data analytic win (and if they could they would!). Any data scientists still in the enterprise should find jobs outside that will pay roughly 20-30% more while keeping comparable benefits.

Pros

Good pay for the area.

Cons

Career Planning? Why bother! Give, push, and fight for the customer or to do things right - nope? High performers were let go fall 2016 with only explanation of "Sorry, we have no place for you in the company" during a hostile takeover of the product development division. 8 months later they disband the new merged division. Now voluntary attrition of those left seeing what happened around them has been increasing.
