Pros

I worked here for nearly a decade. Pros include good health insurance coverage and tuition reimbursement. Compensation is middle of the road for the area but there are better opportunities within the area with comparable benefits. Hospital cafeteria includes better than average food at low prices. My experiences were better at the front end under leadership of Rob MacKenzie and have deteriorated over time. I believe 15+ years ago CMC was a very great place to work.

Cons

Expect little to no autonomy. If you are exempt you will need to clock in and out using a time clock, and if you leave the building at any time. Some departments seem to intentionally hire staff with little to no experience (for financial and employee molding/loyalty building reasons). Many internal employees hired into management with little support and no training opportunities except from manager/director mentors who may already be maxed out and also have minimal formal training, if any. The senior leadership reports that they are receptive to feedback but I have seen little to no change. There seems to be no formal governance model among senior leadership and nearly all requests are expected to be acted upon regardless of if resources are available. Directors and management are unsupported at this level and placed in a very difficult position.

Pros

Great place overall. Caring staff.

Cons

Small town makes it inevitable that there are personal relationships that pre-exist someone's hospitalization and those relationships play a role in the care of the patient.
