Pros

Excellent 401(k) match Great memories

Cons

Unpopular new CEO Major budget restrictions Recent reductions in benefits Role instability (as in suddenly eliminated or remote statuses suddenly revoked) Huge culture changes, demoralized employees Issues with employee churn A year or two ago, I would have given rave reviews of Cboe's humanity and sense of responsibility and how passionate everyone was about their work. Now it's just like every other white collar office.

Worst of both worlds

Pros

Some really nice colleagues and good benefits and perks.

Cons

The past 18 months have been a case study in questionable governance and leadership dysfunction. There has been a complete breakdown of trust and zero accountability. The executive team has undergone significant change and turnover (CEO, President, COO, EVPs of all three business lines, CHRO, CRO) with little transparency throughout. Hierarchies have become even more loyalty and proximity based instead of merit based. Senior management is myopic about certain things but unfocused when it comes to strategy and business drivers. On top of that, there is a significant level of complacency baked in many teams across the organization. Even through the recent cost cutting moves, high levels of complacency remain. Yet teams that actually execute for the business are not getting rewarded. Company performance is currently getting bailed out by the casino-ification of everything, and is not very reflective of decision making or execution. Would not recommend working here unless you thrive in corporate hierarchies where you’re not allowed to have an opinion unless you’re buddy buddy with certain management.

Best to avoid if you aren't the status quo

Pros

Free lunch, free gym, high salary.

Cons

There is a systemic culture issue at this company. They have a very particular 'culture' they are trying to maintain. That directly translates to a male-dominated, Christian-dominated, and white-dominated workforce. The Management doesn't respond to any criticism of their status-quo. In short, this place is emblematic of all that is wrong with both software and financial companies. Proceed with caution.
