Pros

Predictable hours aside from pager duty. If you are pursuing an evening higher educational degree, this is a great place to work. The culture respects employees and offers tuition reimbursement with some restrictions.

Cons

There are no opportunities to telecommute. You have to be at the office every day. Moreover, it does not offer many promising career growth paths.

Pros

Regulatory Division is severely understaffed so there is plenty of work to go around. Regulatory sector of the Securities industry is the one sector that is actually expanding, a job in the regulatory division at an exchange is a great resume builder for a future job at a private firm.

Cons

I feel as if Senior Regulatory management is under-educated. Most of them have moved up the ladder because of their complacency with their jobs rather than their work. CBOE is bringing in over qualified investigators/examiners at entry levels but they are lawyers, CPA's, ex-Market Makers while senior management lacks advanced degrees.

At times the CBOE may take some time to make changes. But like most large firms change sometimes can take awhile
