No opportunity for growth

Pros

Some very smart people to work with in EIS who get things done despite of management. Large budget (if you're in the right groups) and can be sent to conferences. Cedars is a great place to work if you just want to skate by, doing the minimum necessary to pull in a salary. You will not be fired as long as you continue to "meet expectations".

Cons

No personal career growth. When I first started at Cedars, I was very impressed with all the folks that had been working there for 10+ years. i thought it would be a place that I could be a lifer at. Then I realized that those folks were still doing the same thing for their entire career at Cedars. Promotions based on tenure instead of ability. Promotions to a management role from existing employees is rare, it seems that they would rather hire from outside to fill these positions. CTO has been with Cedars his entire career and is out of touch with today's way to run an IT department. A lot of talent leaving due to frustration.

Pros

They strive to be ECO friendly, recycle bins for different materials, offer van pooling and car pooling for employees, offer flu shots and physicals at no charge to employees because of the nature of the industry.

Cons

Internal hiring sucks, its more like who you know. The process is long and tedious. Job postings have no expiration date so you don't know if they were filled or put on hold. Their payroll system is dated to a degree i'm referring to the fact that its still done in house; if where contracted out maybe the employees would be able to view their checks before pay date to so they could see if there was anything wrong with them, employees should be able to go online and update/change tax information etc.
